Johnson Lifts Panthers to 1-0 Overtime Win
COLUMBUS, Ohio – An overtime goal by freshman Kelly Johnson (Berea, Ohio) pushed the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team (8-4-2; 5-3-1 GLIAC) to victory over Northern Michigan (4-7-1; 4-2-1) on Friday by a score of 1-0.
For the first half, the game rested mainly with each team's defense, as both squads could only register five shots a piece through the first 45 minutes.
With the match tied 0-0 at the end of regulation, the game went into overtime, the fifth for the Panthers this season, where it took Johnson just thirty seconds to knock in the game-winning goal. Sophomore Lauren Pratt (West Chester, Ohio) was credited with the assist, her fourth of the season.
Junior goal keeper Laura Clark (Lapeer, Mich) improved her season record to 6-4-2 following the victory.
Ohio Dominican will return to Panther Field on Sunday, Oct. 20 for the Panthers annual Senior Day, when the team will recognize Megan Augusta (Lyndhurst, Ohio) and Christen Adams (Sylvania,Ohio) before the match against Michigan Tech.
