Kats Drop Nation's Fifth-Ranked Team

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Aug. 29 - The Erie Community College women's soccer team recorded a 4-1 victory over fifth-ranked Jamestown Community College-Cattaraugus County Wednesday afternoon at Jim Ball Stadium.
 
The Kats, now 1-0, got a goal and an assist from sophomore forward Chelsea Olson (West Seneca, N.Y./West Seneca East), who was the team's leading scorer in 2011.
 
ECC, which had a 3-1 lead at halftime, got goals from sophomore forward Breanna Pangel (Holland, N.Y./Holland) and freshmen Jasmine Wiggins (Greece, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) and Hannah Metzger (Boston, N.Y./Immaculata). Sophomores Allyson Wrazen (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois) and Lindsey Boling (Alden, N.Y./Alden) were also credited with assists as was freshman Ashley McKillip (Glen Gardener, N.J./Voorhees). Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Kiernan (Lackawanna, N.Y./Immaculata) made four saves for the win.
 
The victory marked the first time since Aug. 29, 2007, that the Kats have opened a season with a win.
 
ECC will play at Corning CC at noon Saturday.
