Kindle's OT Goals Sends CSU Bakersfield Into MPSF Finals

November 12, 2011

DENVER, Colo.—Kory Kindle’s (Jr., Ventura, Calif., Ventura HS) goal 4:21 in to the first overtime gave CSU Bakersfield (12-3-4) a 1-0 victory over Air Force in the semifinals of the MPSF Men’s Soccer Tournament Friday night at Denver University’s CIBER Field.

Kindle scored the gamewinner after Lucas Dall’Orso (Fr., Orange County, Calif., JSerra Catholic HS) slid the ball across the top of the box to the 5-11 physical education major who sent the ball to the top right of the net past Falcons’ goalie Matt Underwood.

“Kory’s goal was a thing of beauty,” said CSUB head coach Simon Tobin. Credit Air Force, they are a great team, but I felt we deserved the win. We dominated most of the game. This was probably the best Air Force team I’ve seen.

The Roadrunners, the No. 2 seed will take on the No. 1 seed, and the No. 1 team in the country, New Mexico (17-0-2) on Sunday in the championship match. The Lobos defeated San Jose State 3-0 in the other semifnal Friday night.

“Its a good thing for our league that the top two seeds are playing for the championship,” Tobin said. “Ever since New Mexico beat us (2-0 Oct. 23), we have been aiming to play them again. Its going to be a great match.”

The MPSF championship match gets underway at 12 p.m. (PST) on Sunday. The winner of the match gets the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Tournament. The selection show will be broadcasted on NCAA.com Monday at 1:30 p.m. (PST).
