Koski named Director of Soccer Operations

September 9, 2020

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Returning to Lehigh men's soccer's staff for the 2020-21 season, Alec Koski '20 has been named the program's Director of Soccer Operations, announced Wednesday afternoon by associate head coach Ryan Hess.

Koski served as the Mountain Hawks' student manager and coach for the last four years and will begin his duties in overseeing the operations of the program immediately. His responsibilities will include video analysis and scouting, growing the ID clinics and camps all while learning the ropes of a Division I soccer program.

"We're very excited to add Alec to the staff. He's shown a willingness to listen and help wherever he can, and is eager to learn and grow as a coach," said Hess. "He will bring a youthful perspective to the staff and help us off the field while getting to know the ins and outs of a college program.

"Alec is passionate about the game and has already developed a great deal in a short period of time coaching locally with LVU, and I'm looking forward to seeing him further develop here with us."

In addition to his time at Lehigh, Koski also serves as the head coach of the '10 Boys Blue club team at Lehigh Valley United, following a three year stint as assistant coach of '02 Boys Black. He's been the assistant director of the Lehigh Soccer Academy since 2017 and last summer, worked closely with Chicago Fire's soccer operations team in the MLS as an extern.

"I knew I wanted to stick around the program in some capacity," Koski said. "I wasn't sure how I would be the manager of the team with everything I'm doing. But I talked with the coaching staff and found a middle ground where I could still be involved and come out to training whenever I could, but my main responsibilities are administrative.

"Winning the Patriot League Championship last year was one of the best feelings I've ever felt. I wanted to be able to say that if we were going to do that again this year, I wanted to be a part of that, I wanted to experience that again because it's unlike anything else. It's a great group of guys and I'm really excited to be a part of it."

Koski will once again join his three brothers on the team, including freshman goalkeeper Blake, all coached by his dad, Dean Koski.

With an end goal of working as a sporting director or general manager of a professional team, the Bethlehem native is currently working on his master's degree in management from Lehigh and will graduate in 2021.
