Koski named PL Midfielder of the Week

September 2, 2019

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After Lehigh men's soccer got the 1-0 victory over Manhattan on Friday night, the first batch of weekly awards were released with junior midfielder Trevor Koski being named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week, announced on Monday afternoon.

Koski scored the Mountain Hawks' lone goal on Friday night off a free kick assist from sophomore Nick Jennings that propelled Lehigh over the Jaspers to earn its first victory of the new season.

"It's always affirming when our players get recognized for individual performances and I am very happy for Trevor," said head coach Dean Koski. "He will be the first to acknowledge that he is part of the team and he is focused first and foremost on team success and that he is happy to contribute any way he can."

The goal was Koski's second of his career and first since scoring Lehigh's lone goal in last year's home opener vs. Drexel.

Koski and the Mountain Hawks return to action this weekend when they face Northwestern on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and then Wisconsin on Sunday at noon in Evanston, Ill.

This is the second consecutive season where Lehigh won a Patriot League weekly award after the very first game of the season. Mark Forrest was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week last season after the season opener at UConn.

Senior defender Zarin Tuten and senior goalkeeper Will Smith were named Honorable Mentions for their performances against Manhattan.
