Florida State head coach Mark Krikorian announced his departure from the program on Tuesday, sharing the news with local Tallahassee media.

The school confirmed Krikorian's departure in an email later in the day.

“Coach (Mark) Krikorian has done a remarkable job over his tenure here and all Florida State alumni and supporters deeply appreciate not only what he has accomplished in terms of championships, but the caliber of graduates he has produced,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said in a statement. “We all wish him and his family well.

“We have the best women’s soccer program in the country and we will identify and pursue the best coach for our program.  We have committed resources that are second to none and will continue to invest in the student-athlete experience.”

FSU announced that a nation-wide search for a replacement will begin immediately.

Krikorian elevated FSU to one of the top programs in the country during his 17 years in Tallahassee. His teams made 11 College Cup appearances, six national title games and won three national championships, including a triumph in the fall of 2021.
