Lady Cougars Blank Flagler 3-0

St. Augustine, FL – Columbus State knocked in two first half goals within 10 minutes and scored a second half goal on their way to a dominating 3-0 victory over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference matchup Sunday afternoon.  CSU improves to 5-1-1 on the year while FC drops to 4-2.  Both teams stand at 1-1 in the conference.

Kelsey Pelletier registered the match's first goal as she received a pass from Stephanie Lowery and blasted it past the goalkeeper from 13 yards out at the 19:20 mark to put the visitors ahead 1-0.

In the 31st minute Kiana Nicholson broke loose and had a one-on-one with the Flagler keeper and calmly chipped the ball in for the second score of the game.  The play was started by Kayla Brown who picked up the assist.

CSU nearly got on the scoreboard in the second minute of play in the second half as Ashton Ziadie took a shot from the right side of the field but was denied.  Amber Wright put the finishing touches in the score column as she put in the third goal of the contest in the 63rd minute.  Josefin de Broen played the ball in to Wright whose shot from 15 yards out went right under the crossbar.

The Lady Cougars outshot Flagler 19-3 in the match and had a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.  Mary Mancin earned the win in net upping her record to 5-1-1 as the junior made two saves. 

Cristina Coca suffered the loss dropping her mark to 1-1 as she allowed all three goals and made seven saves.

Since suffering their 1-0 overtime defeat to UNC Pembroke, CSU has outscored their opponents 17-2 and have outshot them 71-24.

Columbus State is back in action on Wednesday, September 21 when they welcome Lincoln Memorial to the Walden Soccer Complex.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
