2016 Schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh head women's soccer coach Eric Lambinus announced the Mountain Hawks' 2016 schedule on Thursday, featuring 17 games, nine at home and eight on the road. Lehigh will face two teams who advanced to the 2015 NCAA Tournament, along with two opponents from down the road in Philadelphia.
"Our 2016 schedule has a great balance of home and away with a highly competitive level while maintaining the proper timing of games that will allow us to improve through the course of the season," said Lambinus. "It is always difficult to fit the right amount of game into such a short period, but I think we did a good job of putting together a schedule that will best prepare us for the rigors the Patriot League."
The Mountain Hawks open their season on Monday, Aug. 22 when they travel to three-time defending MAAC Regular Season Champion Monmouth. Monmouth finished last season with a 13-3-2 record, with one of the ties coming against Lehigh in a highly-competitive 2-2 final.
Lehigh plays its home opener just four days later, hosting LIU Brooklyn on Friday, Aug. 26 for the first-ever meeting against the Blackbirds. The Mountain Hawks remain home to host Marist the following Wednesday (Aug. 30) at 7 p.m.
Lehigh continues its nonleague slate with a game at Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, Sept. 4 and a home matchup vs. Binghamton on Friday, Sept. 9. A showdown at Villanova on Sunday, Sept. 11 will mark the Mountain Hawks' final tune-up before Patriot League play.
The league opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 17 at Holy Cross and marks the first time since 2012 that Lehigh will open Patriot League play on the road. The Mountain Hawks then welcome Temple on Tuesday, Sept. 20, one year after defeating the Owls in thrilling fashion in overtime. Last season, Temple went on to finish the season 12-7-1.
Lehigh travels to Colgate on Saturday, Sept. 24 before returning home for three straight at the Ulrich Sports Complex, hosting Navy on Wednesday, Sept. 28, Army West Point on Saturday, Oct. 1 and defending Ivy League Champion Princeton on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
The Mountain Hawks close out the regular season by traveling to Loyola (Saturday, Oct. 8), hosting defending league champion Boston University (Saturday, Oct. 15), traveling to archrival Lafayette (Wednesday, Oct. 19), heading to Bucknell (Saturday, Oct. 22) and hosting American (Friday, Oct. 28).
