BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women’s soccer team gave up a pair of first-half goals to Lees-McRae College forward Lena Langille and was unable to get on the board as the Bobcats left Parks Field with a 2-0 victory.

Langille’s first goal came after the Tornado back line was unable to clear a ball played forward by the Bobcats. Mallory Overholt collected the loose ball and played it ahead to Langille, who fired a shot from 15 yards out past goalkeeper Morgan Lawson and into the right side of the net. The 22nd minute goal gave the Bobcats the early 1-0 lead.

Six minutes later, Lees-McRae would strike again. Langille got free behind the defense and poked a shot in from two yards away on the left side of the net after a perfect pass from Cheyenne Warrick.

King struggled to create any solid offensive chances during the match, managing just four shots on goal and being outshot 27-7. Lawson and second-half substitution Nicole Dagher combined for nine saves on the afternoon. Lawson and Dagher both had stellar saves in which they leapt up and deflected the ball just over the crossbar, and Dagher came out to make a diving stop on a ball shot from the right sideline late in the contest.

The Tornado’s best scoring chance of the afternoon came in the 82nd minute. Rachel Thorpe fired a shot from 15 yards out that was deflected to the feet of Lindsay Curtis, who had her ensuing attempt saved by Kaitlyn Briggs.

King next returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Nashville for a game against Trevecca Nazarene that will kick off at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time. The Tornado have only one home match remaining, a 1:00 p.m. contest against Mount Olive on Saturday, November 2.
