BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's soccer team has excelled on the field and in the classroom, and was recognized for its hard work on Thursday, as the Mountain Hawks garnered an NSCAA Academic Award for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons. The award is for the 2015-16 academic year, a year which saw Lehigh place 20 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. To qualify for the award, team must record a minimum GPA of 3.0.
 
In total, 577 women's squads across Division I, II, and III received the award. The Mountain Hawks' men's team also received the award; Lehigh was one of 221 schools across the nation to see both its women's and men's teams recognized.  
 
Lehigh has seen tremendous success in the classroom, led by current junior Amanda Stratton who posted a perfect 4.0 GPA last fall as a Bioengineering major. She garnered the team's Scholar-Athlete Award at the end-of-season banquet and currently owns a 3.84 GPA. Current sophomore Ashley Maziarzrecorded a 3.90 GPA last fall (Bioengineering) while classmate Jessica Sacco tallied a 3.88 (Engineering). During the 2015-16 school year, graduating senior Paige Elliott earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and Academic All-Patriot League Team, each for a second straight season.
 
The Mountain Hawks return to Patriot League action the rest of the season as they next travel to Loyola on Saturday. Opening kickoff in Baltimore is set for 7 p.m.
