BETHLEHEM, Pa. - With just three regular season games remaining, the Lehigh women's soccer team heads to archrival Lafayette on Wednesday for a big matchup against the Leopards. Opening kickoff from Oaks Stadium is set for 7 p.m. and can be viewed live, for free, on the Patriot League Network. Both teams are currently tied for fifth place in the league standings, needing all-important points to help secure a Patriot League Tournament berth.

Lehigh and Lafayette are both 2-3-1 in league play, good for seven points. They are both just one point behind fourth-place Army West Point and three points behind third-place Navy, but are also just one point ahead of both Loyola and Colgate, who are tied for seventh place.

The Mountain Hawks are coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to three-time defending Patriot League Champion Boston University on Saturday. Sophomore Sabrina Mertz gave Lehigh a 1-0 lead with a blistering shot early in the second half. It marked the first goal the Terriers had allowed against a league opponent since their league opener at Bucknell, spanning 321:24. However, Boston University quickly responded with the equalizer less than two minutes later and netted the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in regulation. A pretty even game saw the Terriers hold a 15-9 edge in shots, with each side firing four shots on goal.

Lafayette is 5-5-4 on the season, coming off a 1-0 win over Holy Cross on Saturday. The Leopards are 2-1-1 over their last four games, also tying Columbia (0-0) while falling to Boston University (3-0) and beating American (3-0). Melissa Lynskey leads Lafayette in points with 15 behind a team-high seven goals and one assist. Kaelin King owns 10 points (two goals, team-high six assists) and Alex Stanford has seven (three goals, one assist). Danielle Sedillo has started 13 of the 14 games in goal, tallying a 1.24 goals against average and .776 save percentage. Kelly O'Brien has also played in 11 games, mainly in relief in the second half, seeing 549:12 of action, recording a 0.82 GAA and .844 save percentage.

Lehigh leads Lafayette, 16-7-2 in the all-time series. The Mountain Hawks have won the last two meetings, 2-1 at Lafayette in 2014 and 1-0 in overtime last season, with all three goals being scored by junior Grace Correll. Prior to 2014, the Leopards had won three straight and before that, Lehigh had won nine in a row. Lehigh won the first-ever meeting between the rivals, 2-1 on Oct. 19, 1991.

Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks head to Bucknell on Saturday to face the Bison. Opening kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
