BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off a hard-fought season opener at Monmouth, the Lehigh women's soccer team returns home on Friday to host LIU Brooklyn in its home opener. Monday's opener finished in a scoreless draw as freshman goalkeeper Sam Miller stopped all eight shots sent her way. With the tie, Lehigh is now undefeated over its last three season openers.

Friday's game can be seen live, for free, on the Patriot League Network. For a second straight year, Friday's home opener will be part of the Lehigh University First-Year Student Orientation programming. The Goodman Bus Service will run at 7:40, 8:10 and 8:40 p.m. at the bus stop on Packer Avenue. After the game, the buses will drop off the students at the Packer Ave. bus stop.

Lehigh generated some quality scoring chances at Monmouth Monday. Junior Grace Correll fired the game's first shot on goal while sophomore Sabrina Mertz tallied a shot on goal and junior Tori Pantaleo had an especially strong chance in overtime. Miller impressed in her first collegiate action, making eight stops and staying composed in goal despite 28 Monmouth shots, including seven in the second overtime. The Lehigh defense stood tall, allowing several outside opportunities that went wide.

The tie came against the preseason MAAC favorites who finished last season 13-3-2. Lehigh and Monmouth have played to a tie in each of the last two seasons.

LIU Brooklyn is 0-2 early in its season, falling to Maine (2-0) and at Manhattan (2-1). Madison Gomez scored the Blackbirds' tying goal last time out, but the Jaspers scored in the 83rd minute for the victory. Through two games, goalkeeper Aline Allman has stopped eight of 12 shots. Last season's leading scorer Marian Award graduated, but LIU Brooklyn returned its next two scorers in Madison Gomez (11 points: four goals, three assists in 2015) and Allegra Ondrejka (10 points: four goals, two assists).

Friday will mark the first-ever meeting between Lehigh and LIU Brooklyn.

Following Friday's game, the Mountain Hawks will return home on Wednesday, Aug. 31 to host Marist at 6 p.m.
