The goal was the first of the year for Leyh and the first of the year for the Rams. Both teams failed to convert on a few chances later in the half and Rhode Island took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

2nd Half

Providence came out firing in the second half and nearly converted on multiple chances early on. An attack in the 66th minute resulted in a Friar penalty kick, which Catherine Zimmerman converted to tie the game a 1-1. Leyh and Zimmerman each had a chance for a second tally, but both missed the target by small margins.
