Liverpool Ladies signs UNC star Murray

Satara Murray's next move after wrapping up her standout career at North Carolina(w) is a move to Merseyside.

The imposing central defender and member of the Tar Heels 2012 NCAA championship squad signed with Liverpool Ladies, the club announced on its website.

“Having played college football for a number of years I feel as though I am now ready to make the step up to professional football and couldn’t ask for a better move than to Liverpool Ladies," Murray said in a press release.

“Liverpool Ladies are a Club definitely going places which was highlighted by the two recent WSL title victories and I cannot wait to start. I would like to thank all those at North Carolina for their support over the last few years and helping me to achieve this fantastic opportunity.”

Murray was one of the most experienced players on a young Tar Heel side in 2014, second on the team in minutes played with 1,866, while leading a defense that conceded only 15 goals in 20 games. She was named an NSCAA Third Team All-American, and also earned First Team All ACC honors.

In her four years at Chapel Hill, she played in 85 games, starting in 23 of them during UNC's 2012 title-winning season. She logged two goals and five assists during her collegiate career.
