Lock Haven Scores Three in Second Half to Defeat Marauders

Lock Haven, Pa. – Senior Taylor Suskie scored her second penalty kick goal of the season in the 15th minute to give Millersville a 1-0 lead into break. Lock Haven scored three-straight goals in the second half to beat the Marauders 3-2 on Monday.

Millersville (5-6-1, 3-6-1 PSAC) outshot the Bald Eagles (3-6-2, 2-5-2 PSAC) in the first half by a margin of 6-3.

In the 15th minute, the Marauders received their second penalty kick of the season. Suskie, who scored on the first attempt against Bloomsburg on Sept. 14, got the nod to take the kick. Suskie  made it count, scoring her second penalty kick goal of the season to put Millersville up 1-0 early in the match.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Marauders heading into the break.

In the second half the Bald Eagles found a spark. Lock Haven’s Jamie Hunter scored two goals in a span of seven minutes to give the Bald Eagles its first lead with 29 minutes to play. Amy Wittman crossed a pass to Bree Orth for a third goal in the 72nd to increase the Bald Eagles lead to 3-1.

Millersville ‘s Tess Briggs scored her first goal of the season in the 77th minute off a rebound to cut Lock Haven’s lead to 3-2.

The Marauders were unable to find a tying goal, dropping their third-straight game--longest losing streak this season.

Despite the loss, Millersville outshot the Bald Eagles by a margin of 19-11 in the match.

The Marauders return home on Friday, Oct. 14 to host Gannon at 1 p.m. Millersville then hosts Mercyhurst on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
