Martin Maybin Earns Daktronics All-America Status

EVANS, Ga.:  Junior forward Martin Maybin garners his second Daktronics All-American career award today after putting in an impressive performance throughout the 2013 season.

The Belfast, Northern Ireland native garnered third team status after the 2012 season and played his way on the second team after leading the Rangers in many offensive categories this season.

Maybin has been a key player for the Rangers on the pitch this season, garnering awards including All-RMAC First Team and Daktronics All-South Central Region First Team as well as helping the Rangers to their first ever NCAA Elite 8 appearance in the sport's history at Regis.

Leading Regis to their second back-to-back RMAC regular season championship and straight bye to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2013 after scoring 17 goals and nine assists for 43 points, he put in six game-winners and went 3-4 in penalty kick attempts.  In 70 shots, he put an impressive 43 shots on goal for a 61.4 shot on goal percentage.

He ranks fourth nationally in total points and points per game, fifth in total goals and sixth in goals per game.  The forward also ranks first in the RMAC in six separate categories for the Rangers.

The Rangers finished 14-4-1 overall and 11-2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this season.

Sports Information Directors form NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men's soccer selected the Daktronics All-America teams.  The process begins at the regional level with all first team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot.  This is the eighth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II men's soccer All-America and All-Region teams.  A total of 60 student-athletes filled out

The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
