McCall Named NSCAA/Continental Tire South Central Region Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Kan.:  Regis men's soccer coach Tony McCall was named NSCAA/Continental Tire South Central Region Coach of the Year after leading the Rangers to yet another record-breaking season.

This is McCall's second back-to-back NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year award and was also named back-to-back RMAC Coach of the Year for men's soccer.

The Rangers finished 14-4-1 overall and 11-2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this season, garnering their second back-to-back RMAC regular season championship and second NCAA tournament appearance in both 2012 and 2013.

The 2013 team earned their first ever NCAA victory all-time after receiving a bye to the NCAA Sweet 16 round for the second consecutive season as the #1 seed in the South Central region.  Regis also saw their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Elite 8 as the hosts of the third and quarterfinal rounds.

This season alone, McCall coached three to the NSCAA All-South Central Region team, three to Daktronics All-South Central Regions teams and one to Daktronics All-America Second Team.  His team also garnered six All-RMAC selections this year, including two to the First Team.

He led two Rangers to CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American status, three to All-District, an RMAC Summit Award achievement and seven to Academic All-RMAC teams including four to first team and the Academic All-RMAC Player of the Year.  His teams also garnered the NSCAA Team Academic Award, given to those teams that maintain academic excellence in the classroom while succeeding on the pitch.

As a team, RU topped the RMAC in five separate categories and came second in two, while finishing nationally ranked 11th in total assists, 14th in total points, 15th in points per game and win-loss-tied percentage, 16th in scoring offense and total goals and 17th in assists per game.

Since McCall's induction as head coach five years prior for the Rangers, he has led them to the sport's first three NCAA appearances (2010, 2012 and 2013), first #1 NSCAA ranking (2012), first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance (2012, 2013) and first Elite 8 appearance (2013).

In his five seasons, the coach owns the highest win percentage of any coach for Regis men's soccer after posting a 67-19-11 overall record and going 51-10-9 in the RMAC.  He has a 33-10-7 record at home on the Regis Match Pitch.
