FAYETTE, Iowa:  Regis men's soccer set out to Fayette, Iowa to begin their 2012 season with a win against University of Mary.  The team did just that and more as they shutout the Marauders 7-0.

The first goal of the 2012 Ranger season came from the foot of sophomore midfielder Logan Miller.  Miller was about 25 yards out and blasted it in past the goalkeeper.

Just before half freshman Kade Hansen chipped in a shot from 20 yards away to give the Rangers good momentum going into halftime and a 2-0 lead.

Senior Stephen Reed started the Ranger barrage in the second half with a free kick that was played on the ground under the wall and by the keeper.

Shortly after Reed's, two more goals were sent past the Mary goalkeeper.  In the 51stminute, senior Taylor Diem passed the ball to sophomore Martin Maybin who went right with it before putting it in the back left corner of the net.  A few minutes later, senior transfer Alex Tarnoczi sent his first goal through after getting around the goalie, putting it in to the right.  Sophomore Logan Miller picked up an assist on the play.

Goal six was sent through the posts by Miller unassisted in the 65th minute.

Freshman Ryan Urwiller advanced the Rangers to their seventh goal of the day in the 79th minute.  He shot towards the goalkeeper who stopped the ball.  The ball bounced away from the keeper and back towards Urwiller who sent it right back through to the net.

The Rangers outshot Mary by 19-4.  Freshman goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi put up three saves in between the posts for the Rangers.
