Men's Soccer Picks Up First Victory of the Year in First Home Contest; Defeat Hofstra 1-0
BROOKLYN, New York--- The St. Francis College men's soccer team picked up their first win of the 2011 season, as they defeated the Hofstra University Pride by a 1-0 tally at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday night.
The lone goal came in the thirteenth minute of the first half as sophomore forward Gabriel Bagot received a head-pass from senior tri-captain Robbie Weir and the native of Nevers, France was able to chip the ball over the hands of Hofstra's Roberto Pellegrini for the goal. For Bagot, it was his first of the season and fifth as a Terrier. For Weir, it was his seventh career assist.
The Terriers out-shot Hofstra for the contest 11-8, while the Pride had six corner kicks to the Terriers one. Hofstra's Chris Griebsch was credited with five shots, while two found its way on goal.
St. Francis goalkeeper Tyler Clarhaut recorded his first victory as a Terrier while making two saves.
The Terriers will be back on the road as they visit the Nation's Capital on September 11th as they take on the Howard University Bison. Kick-off is slated for 2:00 pm.
