Men’s Soccer Prevail 2-0 In Season Opener
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The men’s soccer team showed a strong outing as they prevailed over Bellarmine Knights by the score of 2-1 in their first game of the 2012 season.
Senior Casey Weddle (Cincinnati, Ohio) started the Panthers 2012 season in the right direction as he scored the first goal of the game and season at the end of the first half on a penalty kick to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Following in Casey’s footsteps was sophomore Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, Ohio) when he scored ODU’s second goal of the game when he connected on a pass from freshman Tyler Huerkamp (Loveland, Ohio) to put the Panthers at a 2-0 lead in the second period.
The Knights scored their lone goal on a penalty kick from Cole Page, to put them within one at the 76:32 mark of the second period.
The Panthers will travel to Indianapolis on Wednesday, September 5 to take on the Greyhounds. The game is expected to start at 6:00 p.m.
