A stellar two-game run began against Longwood, where a hat trick from the Icelandic forward accounted for all three goals in a 3-0 victory. Virginia Tech then leaned on those finishing exploits again against a stingy Louisville defense, as Traustason scored twice to defeat Louisville 2-0, accounting for all five goals the Hokies managed on the week.
