BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For a second straight year, Lehigh women's soccer junior goalkeeper Sam Miller has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced on Wednesday. Now a two-time All-League and Academic All-League honoree, Miller owns a stellar 3.92 grade point average in psychology while helping lead the Mountain Hawks to a third straight Patriot League Tournament appearance, and their first postseason win since 2010.
 
Along with being named to the 2017 Academic All-Patriot League team, Miller has been a member of the Dean's List every semester of her career while garnering the Faculty Athletics Council Award every semester (for a GPA over 3.2). Miller has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll following every year, and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA last spring.
 
On the field, Miller has started each of Lehigh's last eight games, helping the Mountain Hawks make a late-season surge to qualify for the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 5 seed. The run began with Lehigh's 1-0 shutout at American, a game which saw Miller make six saves to earn Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors. With her six Goalkeeper of the Week honors last season, Miller has now won 10 in her career, and 12 weekly awards overall (including Rookie of the Week twice in 2016). For the season, Miller owns a 1.26 GAA and 0.769 save percentage. She entered this season No. 2 and 3 in Lehigh single-season history in GAA (0.58 in 2017 and 0.64 in 2016).
 
On Tuesday, Miller made seven saves as the Mountain Hawks defeated Bucknell in thrilling fashion. Junior Kayla Arestivo scored the game-winning goal with two seconds remaining in overtime to send Lehigh to Boston for the Patriot League Semifinals on Friday. The Mountain Hawks will face second-seeded Colgate in the second semifinal of the day at 7 p.m.
