MLS Academy alumni weekly roundup: Dec. 2

Graduates of MLS Academies are everywhere in the college ranks nowadays, as many are aiming to continue developing with one day landing a homegrown contract. 

With the season winding down, fewer and fewer players are involved, as seasons have ended with teams getting knocked out of the NCAA tournament.

Here’s a look at how a selection of MLS Academy alumni fared in Division I action over the past week, as the tournament marched on to the quarterfinals.

Chicago Fire

Junior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 90 minutes and made five saves in Marquette’s 3-1 loss against Virginia on Dec. 2.

Freshman MF Louis Bennett II started and played 90 minutes in Marquette’s 3-1 loss against Virginia on Dec. 2.

Junior MF Brady Wahl started and played 69 minutes in Marquette’s 3-1 loss against Virginia on Dec. 2.

Senior F Harrison Shipp started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in Notre Dame’s 4-2 win over Wake Forest on Dec. 2.

Senior MF Bryan Ciesiulka started and played 90 minutes in Marquette’s 3-1 loss against Virginia on Dec. 2.

Colorado Rapids

Junior F James Rogers started, played 71 minutes and had an assist in New Mexico’s 2-0 win over Penn State on Dec. 2.

D.C. United

Freshman MF Michael Sauers started and played 30 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over UC Irvine on Dec. 2.

Freshman MF Ian Harkes started and played 90 minutes in Wake Forest’s 4-2 loss against Notre Dame on Dec. 2.

Sophomore D Jalen Robinson started and played 90 minutes in Wake Forest’s 4-2 loss against Notre Dame on Dec. 2.

Freshman D Suliaman Dainkeh started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over UC Irvine on Dec. 2.

Junior MF Tyler Rudy started and played 78 minutes in Georgetown’s 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Dec. 2.

Sophomore MF Marcus Salandy-Defour started and played 60 minutes in Virginia’s 3-1 win over Marquette on Dec. 2.

Junior MF Mikias Eticha started and played 82 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over UC Irvine on Dec. 2.

FC Dallas

Freshman D Nicholas Rochowski came off the bench and played 14 minutes in New Mexico’s 2-0 win over Penn State on Dec. 2.

Sophomore D Mikey Ambrose started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over UC Irvine on Dec. 2.

Houston Dynamo

Senior GK Patrick Wall started, played 90 minutes and made four saves in Notre Dame’s 4-2 win over Wake Forest on Dec. 2.

Junior D Uchenna Uzo started and played 90 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 1-0 loss against California on Dec. 2. 

LA Galaxy

Sophomore MF Grady Howe started and played 110 minutes in UCLA(w)’s 3-3 draw against Connecticut on Dec. 2.

Freshman D Nathan Smith started and played 110 minutes in UCLA(w)’s 3-3 draw against Connecticut on Dec. 2.

Montreal

Freshman D Kai Morton came off the bench and played 19 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 1-0 loss against California on Dec. 2. 

New York Red Bulls

Sophomore F Brandon Allen started and played 90 minutes in Georgetown’s 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Dec. 2.

Sophomore D Scott Thomsen started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in Virginia’s 3-1 win over Marquette on Dec. 2.

Junior MF Dan Metzger started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over UC Irvine on Dec. 2.

Freshman MF Alex Muyl came off the bench and played 48 minutes and scored a goal in Georgetown’s 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Dec. 2.

Philadelphia Union

Freshman GK Zackary Steffen started, played 90 minutes and made five saves in Maryland’s 1-0 win over UC Irvine on Dec. 2.

Freshman D Andrew Herr started and played 90 minutes in Michigan State’s 1-0 win over Georgetown on Dec. 2.

Sophomore D Keegan Rosenberry started and played 90 minutes in Georgetown’s 1-0 loss against Michigan State on Dec. 2.

Sophomore F Darius Madison started, played 54 minutes and scored a goal in Virginia’s 3-1 win over Marquette on Dec. 2.

Freshman MF Connor Maloney started and played 90 minutes in Penn State’s 2-0 loss against New Mexico on Dec. 2.

Real Salt Lake

Freshman F Coco Navarro started and played 82 minutes in Marquette’s 3-1 loss against Virginia on Dec. 2.

Freshman MF Riggs Lennon came off the bench and played three minutes in Virginia’s 3-1 win over Marquette on Dec. 2.

Senior D Taylor Peay started and played 90 minutes in Washington’s 1-0 win over Stanford on Dec. 2.

Freshman MF Jordan Allen started and played 90 minutes in Virginia’s 3-1 win over Marquette on Dec. 2. 

San Jose Earthquakes

Junior MF Jimmy Callinan started and played 90 minutes in Stanford’s 1-0 loss against Washington on Dec. 2.

Seattle Sounders FC

Sophomore D Ian Lange came off the bench, played 29 minutes and scored a goal in Washington’s 1-0 win over Stanford on Dec. 2.

Junior F Sean Okoli started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in Wake Forest’s 4-2 loss against Notre Dame on Dec. 2.

Sophomore D Michael Gallagher started and played 61 minutes in Washington’s 1-0 win over Stanford on Dec. 2.

Junior F Darwin Jones started and played 88 minutes in Washington’s 1-0 win over Stanford on Dec. 2.

Sophomore MF Aaron Kovar started and played 90 minutes in Stanford’s 1-0 loss against Washington on Dec. 2.

Freshman F Jordan Morris started and played 90 minutes in Stanford’s 1-0 loss against Washington on Dec. 2.

Toronto FC

Sophomore MF Jay Chapman started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in Michigan State’s 1-0 win over Georgetown on Dec. 2.

Junior F Allando Matheson came off the bench and played 29 minutes in Connecticut’s 3-3 draw against UCLA on Dec. 2.

Freshman F Sergio Camargo came off the bench and played 46 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 1-0 loss against California on Dec. 2. 

Vancouver Whitecaps

Sophomore MF Ben McKendry started and played 86 minutes in New Mexico’s 2-0 win over Penn State on Dec. 2.
