MLS Academy alumni weekly roundup: Oct. 30

Graduates of MLS Academies are everywhere in the college ranks nowadays, as many are aiming to continue developing with one day landing a homegrown contract. 

For now, of course, the focus is on their college teams, as the season continues to move along and the chase for the College Cup inches along.

Here’s a look at how a selection of MLS Academy alumni fared in Division I action over the past week:

Chicago Fire

Junior GK Charlie Lyon started, played 110 minutes and made eight saves in Marquette’s 0-0 draw with St. John's on Oct. 23. He also started, played 94 minutes and made five saves in a 1-0 loss against Georgetown on Oct. 26.

Jalen Robinson, Wake Forest, MLS AlumniJalen Robinson

Freshman MF Louis Bennett II started and played 96 minutes in Marquette’s 0-0 draw with St. John's on Oct. 23. He also started and played 94 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Georgetown on Oct. 26.

Junior MF Brady Wahl started and played 110 minutes in Marquette’s 0-0 draw with St. John's on Oct. 23. He also started and played 94 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Georgetown on Oct. 26.

Senior F Harrison Shipp started and played 90 minutes in Notre Dame’s 2-0 loss against Virginia on Oct. 26.

Junior F Tyler Engel started and played 68 minutes in North Carolina’s 1-0 win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 26.

Senior MF Bryan Ciesiulka started and played 110 minutes in Marquette’s 0-0 draw with St. John's on Oct. 23. He also started and played 94 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Georgetown on Oct. 26.

Sophomore F Joey Calistri started, played 102 minutes and scored a goal in Northwestern’s 2-1 loss against Penn State on Oct. 27.

Senior MF Chris Ritter started and played 109 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 loss against Penn State on Oct. 27. 

Senior D Scott Lakin started and played 109 minutes in Northwestern’s 2-1 loss against Penn State on Oct. 27.

Chivas USA 

Sophomore D Brendan Hines-Ike started and played 90 minutes in Creighton’s 3-2 win over Butler on Oct. 23. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 3-2 loss against Seton Hall on Oct. 27.

Freshman F Romario Lomeli started and played 29 minutes in UC Riverside’s 2-0 loss against UC Irvine on Oct. 23. He also started and played 71 minutes in a 2-1 win over Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 26.

Colorado Rapids

Freshman MF Ricardo Perez came off the bench and played 44 minutes in Creighton’s 3-2 win over Butler on Oct. 23. He also came off the bench and played 29 minutes in a 3-2 loss against Seton Hall on Oct. 27. 

Senior D Patrick Slogic started and played 90 minutes in Cornell’s 1-0 loss against Brown on Oct. 26.

Junior F James Rogers started and played 84 minutes in New Mexico’s 1-0 loss against South Carolina on Oct. 26.

Columbus Crew

Freshman D Rylee Woods started and played 90 minutes in Michigan’s 2-1 win over Indiana on Oct. 26. 

Sophomore D Andrew Souders started and played 110 minutes in Akron’s 0-0 draw against Michigan State on Oct. 23. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Northern Illinois on Oct. 26.

Senior MF Eric Stevenson started and played 110 minutes in Akron’s 0-0 draw against Michigan State on Oct. 23. He also started and played 45 minutes in a 2-1 win over Northern Illinois on Oct. 26.

Senior D Sage Gardner started and played 56 minutes in Ohio State’s 4-0 win over Oakland on Oct. 23. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Cleveland State on Oct. 27. 

Senior MF Matt Walker started, played 83 minutes and scored a goal in Xavier’s 3-0 win over Seton Hall on Oct. 23. He also started, played 90 minutes and scored two goals in a 2-1 win over Providence on Oct. 26.

D.C. United 

Junior D Nat Eggleston started and played 95 minutes in Duke’s 2-2 draw against Wake Forest on Oct. 25.

Freshman MF Michael Sauers started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Syracuse on Oct. 26.

Freshman D Patrick Foss started and played 90 minutes in Virginia’s 2-0 win over Notre Dame on Oct. 26.

Freshman D Suliaman Dainkeh started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Syracuse on Oct. 26.

Junior MF Tyler Rudy started, played 83 minutes and scored a goal in Georgetown’s 6-0 win over DePaul on Oct. 23. He also started and played 94 minutes in a 1-0 win over Marquette on Oct. 26.

Freshman MF Ian Harkes started, played 110 minutes and had two assists in Wake Forest’s 2-2 draw against Duke on Oct. 25.

Sophomore D Jalen Robinson started and played 110 minutes in Wake Forest’s 2-2 draw against Duke on Oct. 25.

Freshman D Lars Eckenrode started, played 90 minutes and had an assist in Michigan’s 2-1 win over Indiana on Oct. 26.

Sophomore MF Marcus Salandy Defour started and played 90 minutes in Virginia’s 2-0 win over Notre Dame on Oct. 26.

Junior MF Mikias Eticha started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Syracuse on Oct. 26.

FC Dallas

Junior D Boyd Okwuonu started and played 90 minutes in North Carolina’s 1-0 win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 26.

Sophomore D Michael Ambrose started and played 90 minutes in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Syracuse on Oct. 26.

Freshman MF Fernando Laverde started, played 60 minutes and scored a goal in UCF’s 1-0 win over South Florida on Oct. 23. He also started and played 105 minutes in a 2-2 draw against Temple on Oct. 27. 

Houston Dynamo

Senior GK Patrick Wall started, played 90 minutes and made two saves in Notre Dame’s 2-0 loss against Virginia on Oct. 26. 

Senior D Sebastien Ibeagha started and played 110 minutes in Duke’s 2-2 draw against Wake Forest on Oct. 25.

Freshman GK Fernando Pina started, played 110 minutes and made two saves in Akron’s 0-0 draw against Michigan State on Oct. 23. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Northern Illinois on Oct. 26.

Junior D Uchenna Uzo started and played 90 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 1-0 win over Liberty on Oct. 25.

LA Galaxy

Sophomore D Grady Howe came off the bench and played 65 minutes in UCLA’s 1-1 tie against Oregon State on Oct. 25. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win over Washington on Oct. 27.

Freshman D Nathan Smith started and played 110 minutes in UCLA’s 1-1 draw against Oregon State on Oct. 25. He also started and played 74 minutes in a 2-1 win over Washington on Oct. 27.

Freshman GK Josh McNeely started, played 110 minutes and made four saves in UC Santa Barbara’s 1-1 draw against Cal Poly on Oct. 25. 

Senior F Ruben Valencia started and played 65 minutes in UC Riverside’s 2-0 loss against UC Irvine on Oct. 23. He also started and played 60 minutes in a 2-1 win over Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 26.

Sophomore MF Juan Mendoza started and played 65 minutes in UC Riverside’s 2-0 loss against UC Irvine on Oct. 23. He also came off the bench and played nine minutes in a 2-1 win over Cal State Fullerton on Oct. 26.

Freshman MF Drew Murphy started and played 104 minutes in UC Santa Barbara’s 1-1 draw against Cal Poly on Oct. 25.

Freshman MF Justin Dhillon started, played 61 minutes and scored a goal in Cal Poly’s 1-1 draw against UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 25.

Freshman D Kai Morton started and played 90 minutes in Coastal Carolina’s 1-0 win over Liberty on Oct. 25.

Junior F Cole DeNormandie started, played 85 minutes and scored a goal in Boston College’s 3-2 loss against Clemson on Oct. 25.

Freshman MF Dominik Machado started, played 108 minutes and scored a goal in Providence’s 2-1 win over Villanova on Oct. 23. He also started and played 90 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Xavier on Oct. 26.

Junior F Fabio Machado started and played 48 minutes in Providence’s 2-1 win over Villanova on Oct. 23. He also came off the bench and played 39 minutes in a 2-1 loss against Xavier on Oct. 26.

New York Red Bulls 

Junior MF Sean Davis started and played 110 minutes in Duke’s 2-2 draw against Wake Forest on Oct. 25.

Sophomore F Brandon Allen started, played 69 minutes and scored a goal in Georgetown’s 6-0 win over DePaul on Oct. 23. He also started and played 84 minutes in a 1-0 win over Marquette on Oct. 26.

Junior MF Dan Metzger started, played 90 minutes and scored a goal in Maryland’s 1-0 win over Syracuse on Oct. 26.

Freshman MF Adam Najem started and played 110 minutes in Akron’s 0-0 draw against Michigan State on Oct. 23. He also started, played 84 minutes and scored a goal and had an assist in a 2-1 win over Northern Illinois on Oct. 26.
