Monarchs Ranked 24th - Host New Mexico
SOCCER MONARCHS RANKED 24TH BY NSCAA - ODU 21st in the latest NCAA RPI ratings
NORFOLK, VA—The ODU Soccer Monarchs (9-3-1/6-1), winners of five straight and six of their last seven entered the top 25 of the NSCAA/Coaches and College Soccer News this week at No. 24 and in the latest NCAA RPI ratings, ODU is 21st. ODU hosts New Mexico Saturday night.
C-USA teams joining ODU in the NCAA RPI top 50 include New Mexico at 18, UAB at 23, and Charlotte at 25.
In the latest NCAA statistics, senior Tim Hopkinson ranks sixth with 22 total points on nine goals and four assists. As a team, the Monarchs rank 15th national, averaging 5.77 points per game.
ODU will host perennial C-USA power New Mexico (8-4-2/4-1-1 ) Saturday night at the ODU Soccer Complex. The Lobos fell out of the NSCAA poll after losing to South Carolina last weekend, but remain 25th by Soccer Times.This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams. The Monarchs scheduled game with longtime rival VCU for Wednesday night in Richmond has been postponed. A date for rescheduling has not yet been determined.
