HANOVER, N.H.- Junior midfielder Marina Moschitto  (Andover, Mass.) heeded the call of her team and tallied her second game-winning goal of the season, leading the Dartmouth women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Brown in its Ivy League opener on Sunday (Sept. 23).

Moschitto's game-winner, her third goal in the last three games, snapped Brown's four-game wining streak.  The win also gives the Big Green its third Ivy League opening win in the last four seasons and its fourth straight win.

True to form this season, Dartmouth (6-2-0, 1-0-0 Ivy League) started the game very aggressive on the offensive side of the ball, controlling the run of play for the majority of the opening half.

Senior tri-captain Emma Brush (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) had one of the better scoring opportunities in the first half just 13 minutes into the contest. After connecting with a ball crossed in the box from defender Jackie Friedman (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.), she found a little daylight and teed the ball up only to have the Brown defense swarm in and clear it down the field.

Freshman Corey Delaney (Chatham N.J.) tallied a shot on goal while Moschitto followed Delaney's shot with a driven volley that ricocheted off the crossbar and out of play.

Junior Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.) extended her scoring streak to three consecutive games with the first goal of the contest in the 17th minute. After maneuvering herself into the center of the box, she connected on a ball from Brush and put it past Brown goalkeeper Amber Bledsoe for the score.

The Big Green backline held Brown (6-2-1, 0-1-0 Ivy League) to just two shots in the first half and just one shot on goal coming in the 39th minute. Big Green goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders (Rye, N.Y.) made four saves in 90 minutes of action and allowed her first goal in 323:10 minutes of action

The second half was a different tale, as the Bears come out much like the Big Green in the first half, generating scoring opportunities from the outset.  Chloe Cross looked like she was going to even the score just 1:36 into the game ripping a shot that Saunders had to deflect over the crossbar.

Moschitto took the wind out of the Bears sails when she one-timed a through ball from Delaney into the side netting putting the Big Green ahead, 2-0.

Brown's Emily Wingrove would get one goal back for the Bears but the Big Green defense held on despite several late chances from Brown.

Big Green reserves Tasha Wilkins (Portland, Ore.) and Allison Yeager (North Potomac, Md.) combined for three shots to aid the Dartmouth offense.

Dartmouth hits the road for its next contest, traveling to Princeton for a crucial Ivy League matchup on Saturday (Sept. 29). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
