Mountain Hawks head to Army Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women’s soccer team will travel to Army on Sunday to play its fourth Patriot League match of the season. The Mountain Hawks will look to bounce back from a tough 6-1 loss to Princeton Wednesday when they take on the Black Knights in a big game for both sides.
 
In a battle of the last two Patriot League Champions, 2010 champion Lehigh will play its fourth straight league match on the road while defending champion Army will play its first home Patriot League contest. Both teams are 0-3 in league play and will likely need a win on Sunday to put itself right back into the thick of things in the Patriot League Tournament race.
 
In the loss to Princeton on Wednesday, freshman Paige Elliot scored her second goal of the season while junior goalkeeper Ali Griffin recorded four first-half saves in her fourth consecutive start. Freshman keeper Ani Nahapetian played the second half in net and registered three saves.
 
Elliot scored in the second half after receiving a pass from senior Isabelle Li and beating Princeton goalkeeper Darcy Hargadon with a shot from the top of the box. However, the Mountain Hawks could not contain the Ivy League’s leading scorer Jen Hoy, who tallied three goals for her third hat trick of the season.
 
Elliott is now second on the team with five points via two goals and an assist while junior Murphee Greeley leads the team with three goals and six points. Li paces the team in assists with three. Defensively, Griffin, Nahapetian and sophomore Ashley Blanks have all played at least 343:30 in net for Lehigh and have each made at least 15 saves on the season.
 
Army is led by juniors Kim An and Joey Molacek, who have each recorded four goals and two assists for 10 points. Linda Rosas has played (and started) in nine games in net for the Black Knights and holds a 1.41 goals against average.
 
Army leads the all-time series with Lehigh 14-4-4 after the two sides battled to a scoreless draw a season ago. The Black Knights won the first meeting between the teams in 1991 by a 3-0 final.
 
Following Sunday’s match, Lehigh begins a three game homestand (to close out the regular season) by hosting Bucknell next Friday at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
