Mountain West postpones soccer season
The Mountain West Conference announced on Monday that the league was postponing all fall sports including women’s soccer. The press release states that the conferences officials will look into the possibility of playing the fall sports in the spring at a later date.
Boise State won the 2019 Mountain West Soccer Championship, the first league championship in program history. The Broncos beat San Diego State in the conference tournament championship.
The Mountain West is the latest conference to postpone or cancel fall sports as college athletics waits for official announcements from the major conferences, which are expected this week. Sports Illustrated reported over the weekend that the Power 5 were leaning toward canceling fall athletics, but the narrative has shifted in the last 24 hours with the ACC and SEC being vocal about letting student-athletes compete this fall.
TopDrawerSoccer will continue to track the latest updates for the college soccer season.
