The University of Nevada soccer team picked up its first road win of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating the TCU Horned Frogs 1-0 in Fort Worth, Texas.

With the win, Nevada improves to (2-3-1, 0-0 MW), while TCU drops to (2-2-1, 0-0 Big 12). The win also improves the program's record against BCS conference opponents to 4-13. The program's previous win came at Oregon during the 2006 season, when Nevada claimed a 2-1 win in Eugene, Ore. The shutout is the Pack's second on the year, having kept Hawai`i without a goal in the season opening 2-0 win at Mackay Stadium.

"We fought hard today," head coach Dr. Melissa Price said. "It was hot and we used the entire bench to keep the lead. Dana made some key saves in the net and our entire team battled to win 50/50 balls in the box."

TCU and Nevada struggled to get it going offensively in the first half. The Horned Frogs had one shot on goal to none for Nevada. Wolf Pack senior goal keeper Dana Moreno came up with the save on TCU's lone attempt, as the two teams entered halftime tied 0-0.

The Horned Frogs attacked early in the second half, having multiple shots on goal. The Nevada defense held firm, as Moreno continued to keep the ball out of the net with several saves. The Pack had its first shot come in the 61st minute from junior Kori Disarufino. TCU keeper Vittoria Arnold came up with the save to keep the game tied. Nevada would not be denied, as two minutes later sophomore Chrisalyn Fonte's goal from an assist by senior Lauren Braman gave Nevada a 1-0 lead. Fonte's goal gives her a team leading four on the season . The Horned Frogs had several opportunities within the last five minutes of the game to pull even, but Moreno and the Nevada defense came up big late to win the match 1-0.

"TCU put the pressure on in the final 10 minutes and we kept our composure despite the high intensity of their attack," Dr. Price said. "I'm always pleased with a win on the road and this one is no exception."

Nevada will remain on the road, closing in on the end of its current five-game road trip with a match at San Jose State Friday.
