MEMPHIS, Tenn. - In a well-contested rivalry match, No. 16 Memphis finished off the Ole Miss Rebels 3-0 on Friday at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. With the win, Memphis improves to a program-best 6-0-0 on the season while the Rebels drop to 3-2-1 on the year.

Rasheeda Ansari collectd her second goal in as many matches to give the Lady Tigers the only goal they would need. After Lizzy Simonin played a free kick from the right side, Ole Miss goalkeeper Alley Ronaldi missed the kick, allowing Ansari to collect the ball and put it away for the goal. It was Simonin's second assist on the year.

In the 78th minute, Memphis would increase the lead to 2-0 off a penalty kick by Simonin. Rebel defender Chelsea Heimann was whistled for a yellow card after taking down Taylor Isenhower in the penalty area. Simonin stepped up for the penalty kick and fired it to the left post for her fourth career goal via penalty kicks.

A Christabel Oduro goal in the 84th minute set the final score at 3-0. Averi Hallman served a cross pass to Isenhower just outside the penalty area before Isenhower found Oduro on the far post for the tap-in goal. It was Oduro's team-leading third goal on the season.

Ole Miss placed three shots on frame early in the first half, but Lady Tiger goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters came up big with three saves in the first half. Rafaelle Souza had two shots on frame in the first 20 minutes on runs down the right flank, but Kuhar-Pitters stopped each shot. Emily Reid had the Rebels best scoring opportunity, but a shot from 16-yards away hit the crossbar and allowed Kuhar-Pitters to keep the clean sheet.

It was Kuhar-Pitters fifth-straight shutout and the Lady Tiger defense held Ole Miss to just four shots on goal. Kuhar-Pitters finished with a season-high four saves in the match.

The Lady Tigers outshot the Rebels, 16-10, while also holding an 8-4 edge in shots on goal. Memphis also attempted seven corner kicks, opposed to just five for Ole Miss. With the win, the U of M has earned seven-straight victories over SEC foes and improves to 19-14-1 all-time against SEC opposition. The Lady Tigers also bettered their record to 80-6-1 when scoring three or more goals in a match since the 2000 campaign.

The 16th-ranked Lady Tigers return to Mike Rose Soccer Complex to face former league rival Charlotte on Sunday at 2 p.m.
