UCSD CONCLUDES ROAD STRETCH WITH TWO MORE DIVISIONAL TILTS
UCSD is back on the road for a second straight weekend, paying visits to two more California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) South Division foes. The Tritons first play at Chico State on Friday night, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m., and then Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. Both games will have live stats.

CALLAHAN COLLECTS WEEKLY CONFERENCE HONOR
Junior All-American midfielder Cassie Callahan (Coronado/Coronado HS) was named the Wilson/CCAA Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon after having a hand in all four Triton goals in a pair of divisional road wins last weekend. She converted her 61st-minute penalty kick for the lone score at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night, before assisting onIzzy Pozurama's 49th-minute equalizer and then heading in both the winner and the clincher in Sunday's 3-1 defeat of Cal State L.A. Callahan has nine points from four goals and one assist already this season through four matches, and 17 goals for her career. No fewer than eight of those scores have come via header.

ROAD DOMINANCE
In getting past Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. away from home last weekend, UCSD stretched its remarkable unbeaten streak in regular-season road matches to 28. The Tritons have gone 21-0-7 in such contests since a 2-1 loss in Arcata to Humboldt State on Sept. 17, 2010. Their only defeat outside of La Jolla in all of 2012 (11-1-3) came against West Florida in the national title match in Evans, Ga.

BACK ATOP THE SOUTH
With a pair of wins on the opening weekend of conference play, UCSD is right back where it completed the 2012 season, atop the CCAA South Division. The Tritons and their six points lead a group of four squads on three points who each split their first two matches. No. 11 Cal State Stanislaus and No. 15 Sonoma State are tied for first in the North with perfect marks. Statistically speaking, Callahan is tied with three others for second in goals scored with four, and tied for fourth with her nine points. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelcie Brodsky leads the league with 27 saves, and is second in save percentage (.900) and fourth in goals-against average (0.75).

TRITON NOTES
UCSD is 8-6 in CCAA openers following last Friday's 1-0 win at CSUDH ... Callahan is tied for 15th nationally in the NCAA Division II with her four goals ... Despite a 2-0 week, UCSD moved down from No. 20 to No. 23 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, released Tuesday, with the Tritons rated No. 4 in the West Region, down from No. 3 ... UCSD has had at least seven freshmen and sophomores, with at least three true freshmen, start all four matches so far in 2013 ... The Tritons have already overturned two 1-0 halftime deficits to rally and win this season, with a 2-1 home decision in the opener vs. then-21st-ranked Seattle Pacific (9/5) and a 3-1 victory at Cal State L.A. (9/15) ... Callahan, Pozurama and Rachel Leslie (Santee/West Hills HS), the lone senior on the 2013 roster, are Triton tri-captains.

HEAD COACH BRIAN McMANUS
Brian McManus is in his 27th season in charge of the UCSD women's soccer program. With a career record of 437-68-42, he has achieved the most wins in NCAA Division II women's soccer history. McManus has compiled the seventh-highest win percentage in NCAA women's soccer history at .837. He ranks fourth among all divisions in wins and is third in all-time win percentage in Division II history. McManus has directed UCSD to seven national championships and a record eight CCAA crowns, with the Tritons advancing to the national semifinals an incredible 15 times in his 26 years. Under his guidance, UCSD has qualified for the NCAA postseason all 13 seasons during the Division III days and all but one of 13 years (2004) since the move up to Division II, including the last eight in succession.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Chico State enters the upcoming weekend at 3-1 overall and 1-1 in CCAA play. The Wildcats are new to the South Division this year, swapping spots with San Francisco State in the CCAA's two-year rotation. They placed fourth in the North a season ago after winning the West Region en route to a national semifinal appearance in 2011. Chico State fell 2-0 at Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday, following a 3-0 victory at Cal State East Bay. Scotie Walker leads the 'Cats offensively with nine points from three goals and three assists. Fellow senior Carly Singer has one goal and three assists, while junior Brianna Furner (1.15 GAA) has seen most of the minutes in net. Kim Sutton is in her 13th season in charge of the Wildcats.

SERIES HISTORY
UCSD leads the all-time series, 10-5-1. The Tritons took the lone meeting in 2012, 3-0 at home on Senior Day, with Pozurama collecting a second-half brace off a pair of assists from Callahan. The Wildcats had ended UCSD's 2011 campaign in the NCAA Championship Second Round in La Jolla, 1-0. The teams' previous meeting in Chico resulted in a scoreless draw on Oct. 7, 2011. The Tritons have gone 2-0-1 in the last three regular-season match-ups since a 2-0 loss in Chico in 2009. UCSD will host the Wildcats at Triton Soccer Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 13 (11:30 a.m.).

ABOUT THE COYOTES
Cal State San Bernardino split a road pair to begin the CCAA campaign last weekend, falling 5-1 at Cal State Stanislaus before producing a 1-0 win at Cal State East Bay through a 22nd-minute header by Paige Kang, marking a first collegiate goal for the freshman midfielder. Senior goalkeeper Chelsey Jones (1.24 GAA) made three saves in earning credit for her third shutout of 2013. Kiana Quarles, a freshman out of San Diego (Steele Canyon HS), leads the team with two goals, both of them game-winners. Travis Clarke is in his fifth year at the CSUSB helm. The Coyotes host Cal Poly Pomona on Friday afternoon prior to the Tritons' visit Sunday.

SERIES HISTORY
UCSD has largely dominated the all-time series at 30-5-5. The teams did, however, split their two meetings a season ago, with the Coyotes grabbing a rare win, 1-0 in overtime, in La Jolla on Sept. 30. The Tritons had earlier on Sept. 16 posted a 1-0 decision of their own through a Callahan goal just 49 seconds into the second overtime period. In fact, each of the last three times UCSD has traveled to San Bernardino, the match went into double overtime, with the Tritons winning 1-0 twice around a 1-1 draw in 2011, that goal also coming from Callahan. UCSD is unbeaten in its last 12 trips to San Bernardino, posting a 10-0-2 mark since suffering a 4-2 defeat there in the program's first-ever CCAA match on Sept. 9, 2000. UCSD will host CSUSB at Triton Soccer Stadium on Friday, Oct. 11 (4:30 p.m.).
