NO. 24 ODU DEFEATS NO. 25 NORTHEASTERN, 1-0 ON MILITAR’S GOAL
NORFOLK, VA—ODU sophomore forward Ivan Militar’s (Szeged, Hungary) second half goal lifted the 24th ranked
Monarchs (11-3-2/5-3-2) to a 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association victory over 25th ranked Northestern (11-2-4/6-1-3)
Friday evening at the ODU Soccer Complex. Both teams ranked by the NSCAA/Coaches poll.
A little more than eight minutes into the second half ODU broke a 0-0 deadlock when senior co-captain
Chris Harmon (Downingtown, PA.) passed the ball on the break to the rightside to Militar who blasted
the shot into the upper lefthand corner for the goal.
The goal was Militar’s second goal of the season and Harmon’s team best sixth assist of the year, handing
The Huskies only their second loss of the season (The other was against Michigan).
The Monarchs outshot the Huskies 13-7 overall and 8-2 in shots on goal. ODU senior Victor Francoz
(Fleurieu Sur Saone, France) made two saves, the second coming with less than five minutes left when
Northeastern’s Terence Cater had a point-blank shot, but Francoz made the stop. NU’s goalkeeper
Oliver Blum had seven saves.
Tonight was the final regular season home match for five seniors Chris Harmon, Jordan LeBlanc (Haverford, PA.) ,
Yannick Smith (Hillsborough, NJ.) , Alex De John (Marlboro, NJ.)and Victor Francoz, as they helped give the Monarch fans a 5-1-1 home record this season.
