Published: September 6, 2014

A timely goal and determined goaltending propelled the 25th-ranked Hope College men’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory at No. 10 Wheaton (Illinois) on Saturday in Naperville, Illinois.

Senior midfielder Cameron Dice of Allendale, Michigan (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS), scored an unassisted goal off a scrum in front of the net in the 70th minute for the Flying Dutchmen.

It was Dice’s first goal of the season.

Junior goalie Ethan Beswick of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), made the goal stand up. He finishes with 11 saves to blank Wheaton (2-2).

Hope improved to 3-1 overall after winning both road matches over the weekend.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Thursday, Sept. 11, when it hosts Grace Bible College at 5 p.m. in nonleague action at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
