No. 25 Men's Soccer Drops Road Match
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The No. 25 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team fell to Macalester College 2-1 Sunday in St. Paul to snap a three-game winning streak and fall to 3-2 this season.
The Scots put pressure on the Warhawk defense early, tallying two shots and a corner kick in the first three minutes.
A foul on the Warhawks in the 8th minute of play resulted in a penalty kick for Macalester, and Jake Burke capitalized giving the home team a 1-0 lead.
Peter Raymonds (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) answered with a goal for UW-W 14 minutes later on a pass from twin brother Henry to tie the game.
Three more shots by the Scots before half were stifled by the Warhawk defense and the teams headed into the half with a 1-1 score.
Sixteen minutes into the second half, Burke tallied his third goal of the season to give Macalester a 2-1 lead, a lead they would never relinquish.
The Warhawks will take a small break before their next match on September 16 at Concordia University in Mequon.
