The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team capped a perfect Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season record with a 3-0 victory over UW-Stevens Point Saturday at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. The Warhawks, ranked seventh in the country, clinched the WIAC title last weekend with a 2-0 victory over UW-La Crosse. UW-W concludes regular season play on a 17-game winning streak, an overall record of 18-1 and a conference record 7-0. This is the fourth time in the last seven seasons that the Warhawks have finished league play with an unblemished record.

Marie Lesperance (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) put the Warhawks on the board in the 17th minute scoring on a rebound of a Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) shot that hit the left goal post.

Karina Rosales (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) drilled a ball from the corner of the 18-yard box to the far-post, lower corner in the 33rd minute to give UW-W a 2-0 advantage that they carried to the half.

UW-W took a 3-0 lead in the 64th minute when Kaci Schonert (Racine, Wis./Horlick) tallied her team-leading thirteenth assist of the season on a pass that Pottle knocked past the keeper. Schonert now sits atop the women's soccer record book for most assists in one season.

Head Coach Ryan Quamme played 25 different players in the match, including three goalkeepers. Jennie Novak (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Academy) made her first start of the season and made one save before giving way to Nina Yonan (Skokie, Ill./Niles North). Yonan went untested for 32 minutes when Erin Doody (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) relieved her to finish the match. Doody made one save.

The Warhawks have not allowed a goal in the last 532 minutes and 47 seconds, including five consecutive shutouts.

Traditionally the final home match of the season is tabbed as senior day and Saturday was no different. The Warhawks recognized their three senior captains after the match: Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), Carina Krausert (Delafield, Wis./Catholic Memorial) and Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek).

In their four seasons with the team, the Warhawks have amassed an overall record of 72-11-4, good for an incredible .851 winning percentage. UW-W has also gone 28-2 in WIAC regular season matches during that span.

Coach Quamme stated, "It's hard to achieve the level of success that they have. I'm extremely proud of how they have grown as soccer players and leaders. All three also excel in the classroom. They are a very special group for sure."

UW-W, the number one seed in the WIAC Tournament, has earned a first round bye when the tournament begins on Tuesday. The Warhawks will host the lowest remaining seed on Thursday, November 3 at 6 p.m. at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. Should the Warhawks advance to the championship, that match will be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 5. The winner of the WIAC Tournament earns the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. UW-W is seeking their sixth straight tournament berth.
