COLUMBUS, Ohio - Redshirt freshman Eric Shrigley scored with 18 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Ohio State men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Cal State Fullerton Sunday afternoon in the Bert & Iris Wolstein Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The win gave the Buckeyes the tournament championship and a 1-0-1 record on the season, while the Titans fell to 1-1-0 with the loss.

Shrigley's goal was the first of his career and came off assists from junior Sam Scales and junior Konrad Warzycha, who assisted on both of Ohio State's goals on the weekend. Warzycha sent the ball from the midfield out to Hegngi near the left sideline, who then chipped a pass inside the box for Shrigley. The Wheaton, Ill., native got a head on it and sent the ball into the left side of the net for the late lead and the win.

"Cal State Fullerton gave us a really strong fight today," head coach John Bluem. "They have a lot of very talented players, but I am proud of the way that our players stayed in the game until the very end and did not give up. The goal came off two incredible passes by Konrad Warzycha and Sam Scales at the perfect time."

Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Dalton made his first collegiate start, tallying five saves. Ohio State out-shot the Titans 16-11 on the day and held a narrow 5-4 advantage in penalty kicks.

In the first game Sunday, Penn State defeated Gonzaga, 1-0, with a late-game goal by Corey Hertzog off an assist by Jason Yeisley.

The Buckeyes return to action at 5 p.m. Friday against Hartford at the Penn State Nike Classic in State College, Pa. Ohio State will also face Hofstra at noon Sunday.
