Four states, six club teams and 10 high schools have together produced a group of 12 electrifying student-athletes to join Sooner soccer in 2015. Head coach Matt Potter and the OU soccer program introduced its newest signing class Tuesday, welcoming an exciting group that will be part of the future that Potter is building at Oklahoma.

Oklahoma’s signing class will bring talent and prowess both to the playing field and to the classroom, boasting an impressive listing of academic and athletic honors in its high school careers. The group is set to join an up-and-coming Sooner squad that qualified for the program’s third NCAA Tournament appearance last season.

The OU class hails from Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas, including a class-high five signees from the Sooner State. Four star Tulsa native Kaylee Dao and four star Broken Arrow product Jordan Hobart will each join the Oklahoma class as previous all-district selections and successful club athletes from TSC Hurricane. Dao is a top-100 ranked player nationally, earning two conference titles and an appearance in the 2013 state finals with Jenks H.S. Hobart had a standout career as well with Union H.S., earning two all-conference titles and appearances in the state semifinals and quarterfinals.

Oklahoma’s newest class will also include a total of three Norman products, headlined by three star midfielder Luka Joyner. Joyner previously aided her high school team to an Oklahoma 6A state title in 2014 and is ranked No. 1 in her class of 475 at Norman North H.S. She is joined by defender Kristin Wilpitz, a four year letter winner at Norman North, and Gracie Koonce, a three-time all-conference selection and two-time all-district pick for Norman H.S.

Potter and his staff have also added four dynamic student-athletes from the state of Arizona to this class, all hailing from the SC del Sol club ranks. Bethany Block, Angela Boyle, Kyle Escobedo and Emily Parker each bring huge skill sets to the table for Oklahoma. Block is a three star midfielder from Phoenix who has earned two conference titles in high school and was a four year team captain. Boyle is an early enrollee who earned three all-division honors in high school as a three star defender.

Escobedo and Parker each bring a litany of achievements in their high school and club careers. A four star recruit out of Phoenix, Escobedo is ranked among the top 50 players in the nation and is the No. 5 player in her region. She was a three-time first team all-state selection, a U-16 National Team roster selection and a Girls IMG Academy 150 player pool pick.

The daughter of former NFL offensive lineman Glenn Parker, Emily Parker won two state titles at Catalina Foothills H.S. in Tucson and was a two-time first team all-state, all-division and all-section pick. She was also a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist and the Arizona Daily Star Player of the Year in 2013.

OU’s class is rounded out by a pair of signees from Texas in Marissa McMahand and Paige Welch, alongside Colorado native Allison Riggs. Welch is a four star signee from Austin who earned two first team all-district selections and two district titles at Vandegrift H.S. McMahand earned two national playoff appearances with her club team and added three first-team all-district selections at Round Rock H.S. in Round Rock, Texas.

Riggs is a three star defender from Castle Pines, Co., who led her high school team to appearances in the Colorado state quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
