Oles and Bluegolds play to scoreless draw
NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The St. Olaf women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie with UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field.
Despite being outshot 8-3 for the game, the Oles held the Blugolds scoreless, thanks to seven saves from goalie Nora Forbes. With ten minutes left in regulation, Forbes made three point-blank saves to keep the game scoreless. The sophomore keeper has now allowed just three goals in over 11 hours of soccer this fall.
The Blugolds got seven of their eight shots on target, including two each from Paige LeGate and Kaite Richter but could not find a way past Forbes.
Offensively, St. Olaf was led by Deanne Schmidt and Christina Herron-Sweet, who each had a shot on goal. However, like the Blugolds, the Oles were unable to score on UW-Eau Claire goalie Nina Behrenbrinker.
The Oles host St. Catherine University on Saturday at 11 am, as they look for a third straight win to start MIAC play.
