Panthers Battle Dragons to 0-0 Draw
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team held Tiffin University scoreless for 90 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime to earn a 0-0 tie on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons were just as tough defensively, as they held the Panthers to just three shots on goal, while notching seven themselves.
Neither team had a legitimate scoring chance in the first half. ODU had three shots, while Sophomore Panther goalie Justin Alexander (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) faced three shots on target by Tiffin.
The second half saw little movement on the offense front from either team, with the Dragons registering six shots while the Panthers added three of their own. Both goalies were able to save all shots they faced on goal in the second 45 minutes.
Ohio Dominican had few opportunities in the overtime periods, but could not capitalize. ODU had three shots and two corner kicks in the twenty minutes of extra time.
The draw would stand after 110:00 total minutes of play.
ODU's record is now 8-2-2 overall and 7-2-1 in conference while the tie brings Tiffin's record on the season to 7-2-2 and 5-2-2 in the GLIAC.
Ohio Dominican is back in action on Friday, Oct. 25 as it welcomes Northwood to Columbus to take on the Panthers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
