Garden City, N.Y. – Courtesy of two goals from Olivia Czavar, the #3 Adelphi University women's soccer team recorded a 2-1 victory over the #6 Saint Anselm College Hawks in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Championship on Tuesday afternoon at Motamed Field. With the win, the Panthers improve to 12-1-4 overall and advance to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Tournament, where they will face the winner of #2 American International and #7 Assumption.

The Panthers wasted no time getting on the board first within the opening six minutes of the game and playing with a one goal cushion from the get-go. Victoria Antonino dribbled down the right side and sent a cross to teammate Czavar who one-timed the ball into the back of the net for her first goal of the game and seventh of the season.

Despite the early goal, both squads played the first half even, each taking four shots while the Hawks put two on goal compared to the Panther's one. Sam Whitney, the NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week made saves on both shots on target.

In the 55th minute, Saint Anselm leveled the playing field when Siobhan Flaherty lofted a high shot from 15 yards on the attacking right and lifted it over Whitney for the score.

In the latter stages of the game, it was Czavar once again who gave Adelphi the final edge needed to secure the win. On a feed from Michelle Brown, Czavar managed to muscle off a tough shot in between a duo of Assumption defenders and beat keeper Cassie Quattropani for the game-winner.

Overall, the Panthers trailed 12-7 in total shots and 3-1 in corner kicks. However, Whitney made five saves in the victory while Quattropani made just three in the setback.
