Patriot League cancels fall season
The Patriot League announced on Monday that “Patriot League teams will not engage in competition in the fall season (championship and non-championship).”
However, the Council of Presidents for the League did state “Because the United States Military Academy (Army) and the United States Naval Academy (Navy) are unique in their environments and their missions within higher education, the Council of Presidents agree that the academy may continue to engage in competitive opportunities as considered appropriate by their respective Superintendents.”
There are 10 programs in the Patriot League for soccer (both women’s and women’s) including both of the service academies.
The Patriot League had announced in June plans to complete the Fall 2020 season, but three weeks later the league is shutting down the fall season for all sports, and still deciding on the plan for winter and spring sports.
