FLORENCE, SC – Junior midfielder Sarah Moore registered a hat trick on three shots to lead USC Aiken to an 8-0 Peach Belt Conference win over Francis Marion University, Thursday night (Oct. 13) in women’s soccer action.

Because of Hurricane Matthew, Thursday’s contest was the first action for Francis Marion in 12 days.  FMU will travel to play sixth-ranked Columbus State University on Saturday at 1 p.m.  The next home contest for the Patriots will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, against Georgia College at 7:30 p.m. on Hartzler Field.

Francis Marion registered a season-high 16 shots, with nine being on frame, against the Pacers.  FMU senior Kelly Anthony had a 35-yard attempt in the 38th minute that glanced off the right post, while freshman Carli Gauthier hit the right post with a shot from inside the penalty area in the 64th minute.

In addition to Moore’s three scores, Monica Armendariz recorded a pair of goals and one assist for USCA, which improves to 4-9-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the PBC.  The Pacers led 3-0 at halftime with all three scores coming in the opening 16 minutes.

FMU junior goalkeeper Casey Murakami started in net for the Patriots and made three saves.  Freshman Micahla Kitchen (1 save) and sophomore Janine Gordon (0 saves) also saw time in goal for FMU.

USCA junior goalkeeper Karin Cadwalader earned her third clean sheet of the season by making eight saves.

The Pacers held a 21-16 advantage in shots and took all five of the contest’s corner kicks.  Anthony led FMU with six shots, while Gauthier had four and senior Tori Whigham two.
