Sophomore Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) netted the game-winning goal in the 102^ndminute as the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team defeated the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) 3-2 in double-overtime.  The Falcons, who are the fourth seed in the 2014 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament edged the fifth seeded Blue Jays at home in the Falcons' sixth-straight postseason appearance.

With the score tied at two heading into the second overtime period, the Falcons looked to its leading scorer in Polvan to lift the Falcons to victory.  In the 102^nd minute, Polvan drilled a shot into the back of the net for her second goal of the contest and the 11^th of the season.  She is now ranked fifth in the GNAC in both goals scored and points.

The Falcons will now face the winner of Monday's quarterfinal match-up between top-seeded Lasell and eighth-seeded Suffolk. The Falcons are 0-1 in semifinal game appearances and will look for their first victory as Wednesday's contest will mark just their second appearance ever in semifinal action.

Today's contest began with an early goal scored by Kaitlyn Fedumenti (Bridgeport, Conn.).  FreshmanAngelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) sent the ball into the box where the Blue Jays' keeper was able to get her hands on it but Fedumenti was in the right place at the right time to finish the play and score her fifth goal of the season.

The Blue Jays' Dayna Gambino evened the score in the 16^th minute when she fired a shot from about 25 yards out after receiving a pass from teammate Nicole Aquillo.  After going into the halftime break tied at one, the Falcons struck first in the second frame.  Polvan took a pass from Fedumenti and went one-on-one with the keeper before sending the ball into the back of the net to put Albertus ahead 2-1 in the 66^th minute.

Less than a minute later, Amanda Montano scored her third goal of the season as she chipped a shot over the hands of Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) to tie the game at two.  That was how the score would stay at the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime. 

After a scoreless first overtime period, the Falcons capitalized on their first shot in the second extra period as Polvan netted the game winner less than two minutes into play.

Albertus outshot the Blue Jays 18-14 in the contest, including a 2-1 clip in the extra periods.

Case finished the contest with four saves for the Falcons, while USJ's Melissa Dodge picked up nine saves.

Today's contest marked the first time that the Falcons and Blue Jays met in the GNAC Tournament, while the Falcons are now 2-6-1 all-time in GNAC postseason action and 2-1-1 on their home field.
