POTSDAM, NY—Buffalo State (7-7-1/3-4) netted three goals in the first 15 minutes and held off a Potsdam (8-7-1/2-4-1) rally to score a 4-2 win in SUNYAC action this afternoon at Maxcy Turf Field.

With the win, the Bengals are now in sixth place in the league standings, two points ahead of the Bears.

Anthony Appiani (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) scored from 12 yards out from the far corner to give Buffalo State a 1-0 lead at the 4:37 mark of the first half. Francesco Cardillo (Tonawanda/St. Thomas Aquinas (ON)) would find the back of the net in the 12th minute and Keegan Lezama (Milton, ON/Bishop Reding) tallied his third of the season at 15:01 off a crossing pass from Andrew Dugan (Schenectady/Colonie).

The Bears recorded their first of the game on a header in the 32nd minute and would add another with just 45 seconds left to play in the half to cut the deficit to 3-2. Dylan Ross (Staten Island/St. Peter's Boys) added an insurance marker in the second half at 74:15 to close out all scoring. Stephen Linderman (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) and Matthew Wong (Coventry, England/Binswood Sixth Form) were also credited with assists for Buffalo State.

The Bengals finished with a 23-16 advantage in shots and Ian Huntoon (Stamford, CT/West Hill) registered five saves in his fifth win of the season.

Buffalo State will host a pair of critical SUNYAC games next weekend against Oneonta and New Paltz, with Friday's game against the Red Dragons set for 3 p.m.
