CHICAGO - Offensive attacks were numerous, corner kicks paid off, and solid defense added a third shutout to the team resume as the Ramblers improved to 3-1-1 on the season when they defeated Northern Iowa, 4-0, on Friday night. Four goals were scored by four different players after a holistic team effort on the pitch.

At the 34:36 mark, a corner kick from junior Jessie Hubly found the head of freshman Valerie Gonyo in the box to put the Ramblers up 1-0. Less than a minute later, freshman Monika Lee bounced a shot off the post and into the net for the secure lead. The 48-second interim between goals ranks as the second-fastest back-to-back connections in program history.

The Ramblers wasted no time after intermission and came out even stronger than the first half. A second corner kick by Hubly set up a scramble in the box that resulted in a third goal for Loyola, off the foot of Ana Claudia Michelini.

In the 78th minute, Michelini tallied an assist after setting up the shot for sophomore Tricia Stonebraker. Stonebraker fired a kick from 10 yards out to put the Ramblers up by four with only 12 minutes to go.

Monica Gonyoearned her third shutout in as many games after starting the match and playing the entire 90 minutes. Gonyo ended the contest with one save and a 0.75 goals-against average.

Loyola tallied 18 shots while Northern Iowa managed four. Michelini led the way for the Ramblers with four shots, three shots on goal, and three points. Stonebraker and Allison Rydberg each added three shots in the match while Valerie Gonyoended with two.

The Ramblers will host DePaul next Thursday, Sept. 8. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. CST and will be streamed live through the Horizon League Network at www.horizonleague.com.
