Ramer Named Capitol One First Team Academic

Wyoming’s soccer Laurel Ramer has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII First Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The honor is the first of Ramer’s career, as she was among 12 student-athletes selected the District VII First team.

A Kasson Minn. native, Ramer is a pre-pharmacy major and carries a 4.0 grade-point average. Ramer has been an offensive threat for the Cowgirls during her early career for the Cowgirls. She has five points this season on two goals and an assist. In 2013 she played 20 games with two starts, notched a goal, earned Mountain West Academic All-Conference and MW Conference Scholar Athlete honors.

To earn Academic All-District soccer honors a student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.30 GPA, be a sophomore athletically, have completed in 50 percent of his/her team’s competitions and completed a full calendar year at their respective institution. Earning Academic All-District honors moves the student-athlete to the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. CoSIDA District VII comprises features schools from nine states including Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.
