Rangers Command a 2-1 Victory over Mavs on the Road
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.: Regis women's soccer hit the road hard, defeating Colorado Mesa 2-1 on the road this afternoon in front of 188 of the home team's rowdy fans.
The Mavs went up first early in the match, scoring on the Rangers in the third minute of play.
After the goal, both teams settled down with the Mavs holding the lead through the first half, but Regis not ready to five up on the day.
RU put in seven shots in the first half alone and then another 11 in the second for 18 on the day, 10 of which challenged the opposition's goalie.
Roughly 10 minutes into the second half, senior Rachel McMahon would find the back of the net for Regis tying things up and putting the momentum with the Rangers.
With six minutes left in regulation play and the score still tied, Regis garnered a penalty kick opportunity with 84:04 left on the clock. Sophomore Sid Otto stepped up to take the kick for her team, scoring through the Mavs keeper for the 2-1 advantage.
Regis kept things under control in the remaining minutes finishing their one-game on-the-road series with a huge win.
Freshman Kat Crump put in two saves on the day, helping herself and her team to another win on the season, now 5-7-1 overall and 3-6-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Next, Regis will take on Colorado Christian University at home on Friday, October 25 at 3:30 p.m.
