Raudales Signs Contract to Play in Germany

<div class="newsarticle"> <p><strong>FORT MYERS, Fla. &ndash;</strong> FGCU men&rsquo;s soccer all-time leading scorer <strong>Cristian Raudales (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee HS)</strong> became the first Eagle in program history to join the professional ranks late last week when he signed a contract to play in Germany for BSV Rehden (www.bsv-rehden.de).</p> <p>Raudales will join BSV Rehden, who plays in the Regionalliga Nord (Northern Regional League). Play will begin on Aug. 5 when BSV Rehden takes on Oldenburg. BSV Rehden is in the fourth-highest division of Germany.</p> <p>&ldquo;This is an impressive accomplishment for Cristian as Germany has one of the top professional leagues in the world,&rdquo; said FGCU head coach <strong>Bob Butehorn</strong>, who signed Raudales as part of the program&rsquo;s second-ever recruiting class. &ldquo;We're excited for him and proud to call him an FGCU alum.&rdquo;</p> <p>Raudales finished as FGCU&rsquo;s all-time leader in points (43) and goals (19) over his four seasons in the Green and Blue in which he helped guide the Eagles to a 39-26-7 record, two Atlantic Sun Conference regular season titles (2010, 2011) and the 2011 A-Sun Tournament title which led to the program&rsquo;s first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.</p> <p>The Bradenton, Fla. product turned in his best season during his senior campaign in 2011, leading the team in scoring with 15 points, highlighted by a club-best seven goals. Even more impressive, Raudales tallied three goals when FGCU was playing a man down, including a two-goal performance in a 2-1 comeback win over Mercer. A four-year starter at midfield who made 70 starts, Raudales was named to the A-Sun All-Conference first team and NSCAA All-South Region third team in 2011.</p> </div>
