Regis Shuts Out UCCS at Home; Drops the Mountain Lions 2-0
DENVER, Colo.: Regis men's soccer came out strong today against UC-Colorado Springs, scoring goals in both the first and second halves to overcome the opposition 2-0 by the end of the day.
Junior Martin Maybin netted both for the Rangers, putting the first one through in the 28th minute of play on a collected assistive effort from senior Mark Kelly and freshmanBrian Strasbaugh.
Regis outshot UC-Colorado Springs 13-6, with five of the home team's shots being on goal and with RU keeping the Mountain Lions from challenging freshman Connor Adkisson in between the posts even once.
Maybin scored his second goal in the 67th minute, beating defenders with a short header from 38 yards out that he picked up himself. The forward took a few touches for a one v. one opportunity with the UCCS keeper, besting him to the left for the goal.
Regis will return to the Match Pitch on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m. to take on Colorado School of Mines. Prior to the match, seniors Ben Fredrickson, Mark Kelly,Nicolas Morabito and Garrett Seitz will be honored.
