Reimer, Walsh Lift Saint Louis Over SIUE
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Alli Reimer scored her first goal of the season with just 1:01 remaining in the second half, and Katie Walsh made a season-high nine saves to give Saint Louis a 1-0 win over SIUE Sunday afternoon at Korte Stadium.
Reimer’s goal came just seconds after a Billiken corner kick and was a result of her second shot on goal on the play. After SIUE goalkeeper Jennifer Pelley turned away the first attempt, Reimer collected the rebound and slipped a shot past Pelley from five yards away.
SIUE (3-3-1) managed an attempt at an equalizer with 11 seconds to play. But Walsh was up to the task as she preserved her third shutout of the season and the 17th of her career.
The Billikens (2-4-2) are back in action Thursday, Sept. 20, when they travel to Chicago to take on DePaul. Game time is 4 p.m.
